Idyllic Countryside Leisure

Leisure Activities at Cricklade House & Spa

As you would expect from our countryside location, we have a number of activities for you to enjoy during your stay, or perhaps the reason why you want to stay. Along with our newly refurbished Fritillary Spa, we have a popular nine-hole golf course, tennis court, and a state of the art Pétangue court!

As the first town on the Thames, and in a rural location, there are ample walks available to everyone, along with many cycle trails. Details can be found on most websites should you wish to plan in advance.

Golf

Our nine hole golf course is popular with our members but available to for guests to enjoy a round. With five par three holes and four par four, it still provides an excellent challenge and suited to those who are familiar with narrow fairways. Each hole has an abundance of character and tee times can be reserved prior to arrival through calling reception.

A round is £15 per golfer, and although we have sets of clubs for your use, under current guidelines bringing your own clubs is preferable.

Tennis

Adjacent to the Spa, our tennis court can be pre-booked in one-hour slots. Rackets and balls are available from the main hotel reception, and hire of the court is £15 per hour.

You can reserve prior to arrival and the equipment is included in the cost of the court hire.

Then retire to the terrace bar for that rewarding Gin and Tonic!

Fritillary Spa

With countryside at our core, there is no better place to enjoy some rural relaxation. Our location is home to the Fritillary flower, a special flower that only flowers for a short time each year. Fritillaries were first recorded growing in the wild in 1736, with some of the best-known fritillary fields along the flood meadows of the Thames. The Spa is proud to take its name from this memorable flower. It gives people the opportunity to experience a special Spa and contemporary space, in a unique and beautiful countryside setting.

Pétanque

Built in January 2021, our Pétanque court is recognised as the 'Best in West' (see image).

Pétanque - pronounced "pe-tank", sometimes called boules, is a game that can be enjoyed by all the family and socially with friends for fun or more competitively. With purpose courts that are all year round and floodlit, Boules can be hired from reception at £15 per hour for your group.

An Amazing Time

We stayed at Cricklade house with the Children, we had an amazing time. The Hotel was lovely and clean, the staff were friendly as always. The Pool was very refreshing and organised due to COVID. The room was lovely overlooking the Tennis Court, and the food was delicious.

Great Location and beautiful surroundings

Such a nice peaceful stay the hotel is set within a golf course, the food is amazing and the terrace and bar area has some great views over the course.
This hotel also has a swimming pool, sauna, Gym and Spa. The garden rooms are very spacious

There are 2 great Nature reserves near by which are great for bird spotting and long walks, easy driving distances for lots of the Cotswold attractions, we love the National Trust parks around the area and less that an hour to Bath.

Have fun you will enjoy it

We had our wedding reception here on the 26th June 2021 and wow it was amazing couldn’t of asked for a better day! The staff are all wonderful and can’t do enough for you and James the manager wired so hard to make sure it all went to plan, and it did, so thank you so much!! We will be back for meals as the food is amazing all guests were so happy with it all.

So thank you so much

Truly wonderful

We ate lunch at their restaurant on the 27th June and not only was the food absolutely delicious (it was Sunday so we had the roasts which were divine - the beef in particular was very well cooked), the staff were so attentive and flexible. For a family of 6 who came with their two dogs for my grandmothers 80th birthday they treated us so well and even organised a cake for pudding. I would recommend to anyone staying nearby. Such a good find. The manager of the restaurant (with her lovely sparkly face mask) was a real gem. All of the staff were a true credit to the hotel.

Service was perfect and I would definitely recommend.

We decided to have Afternoon tea as it was very hot. When I booked I asked for a more savoury tea. The staff were very accommodating with are request and when we arrived it was fantastic very well presented with a modern theme. Service was perfect and I would definitely recommend.
